Director General Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė Participated in the Lithuanian Science Forum “Competitive and Creative Lithuania”
Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė, Director General of the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania), took part in the Lithuanian Science Forum “Competitive and Creative Lithuania,” organized by the Research Council of Lithuania. This event – part of the International Science Week in Lithuania “(re)SEARCH 2025” – brought together representatives from science, politics, and the public sector to discuss the role of science in strengthening the country’s competitiveness and creativity.
Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė participated in the discussion “How can innovative and evidence-based policymaking be strengthened in Lithuania?” Together with representatives from the Office of the President, the European Commission, the Government Strategic Analysis Center (STRATA), and other institutions, the discussion focused on how to enhance evidence-based decision-making in Lithuania, and make more effective use of data, research results, and innovations in the policymaking process.
According to Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė, the mission of the State Data Agency is closely aligned with the topic of this discussion: the Agency strives to ensure that data and analytics become the foundation for decisions that shape an advanced, competitive, and creative Lithuania.
The International Science Week “(re)SEARCH 2025” – the first-ever series of science events in Lithuania dedicated to future scientific ambitions, international partnerships, collaboration between science and business, and the search for strategic solutions. Events of the International Science Week include: the Lithuanian Science Forum, Vilnius Science Diplomacy Forum (2025), Baltic States TTO Network Meeting (2025), Conference “Opening Technology Exchange: Building Connections Between the Region and the United Kingdom”.
Topics discussed during these events cover increasing the competitiveness and international recognition of scientific projects, implementing research results in practice, strengthening international partnerships, science diplomacy, and the contribution of scientists to solving issues relevant to society.
At the Lithuanian Science Forum “Competitive and Creative Lithuania”, Lidia Borrell-Damián, Secretary General of the association “Science Europe”, also spoke. She emphasized the role of scientific research in addressing global challenges and creating a favorable environment for scientific progress.
D. Gintaras Valinčius, Chairman of the Research Council of Lithuania, noted that the International Science Week “(re)SEARCH 2025” is an important step in strengthening the dialogue between science, business, policy, and society, as well as an opportunity to discuss the role of Lithuania’s science ecosystem in implementing the “Lithuania 2050” vision.
