Meeting to exchange experience on consumer price surveys
On 19–20 June, within the framework of the Eurostat-OECD Purchasing Power Parities (PPP) Programme, a meeting with experts from statistical authorities of the Czech Republic and Hungary was hosted at the State Data Agency.
The aim of the meeting was to share the countries’ experiences in performing the 2024 statistical surveys on prices of consumer goods and services “Food, beverages and tobacco products” and "Clothing, footwear and other personal care products".
During the meeting, the discussion covered the organisation of the work of the surveys, the network of shops, brands treatment at the price level, the determination of the representativeness of the goods and other methodological issues with a view to providing the countries with the most comparable average prices to be submitted to Eurostat for the calculation of PPPs for the national currencies.
A visit to the stores was also organised to compare clothing and footwear retail chains, products and prices in Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
