Indicators measuring well-being discussed at the Conference of European Statistics Stakeholders

On 15–16 October, Director General Jūratė Petrauskienė and Deputy Director General Gita Literskė participated in the Conference of European Statistics Stakeholders (CESS) of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) held in Paris.

The meeting discussed that the gross domestic product is not the only indicator measuring the country’s development and progress. In today’s world, demographic, geopolitical, climate change and other factors influencing people’s well-being are also very important.

During the session, various relevant topics were analysed: measuring welfare indicators, the impact of climate change on households, the use of mobile data, international data sharing, data–based decisions, etc.

Mariana Kotzeva, Director General of Eurostat, representatives of the European Central Bank, the French national central bank, the Banque de France, and other international and national organizations took part in the event.

ESAC helps the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission to ensure that the coordination of the European Statistical Work Program and EU statistical information policy takes into account the needs of users and costs incurred by information providers. In 2022, the Committee of the European Statistical System delegated Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė to ESAC.

The aim of the CESS conferences organized by ESAC is to enhance the dialogue between producers, methodologists and users of European statistics: identifying users’ requirements, sharing producers’ best practices, exploring innovative ideas for data collection and analysis.
