This year’s national stage of the European Statistics Competition in Lithuania has successfully concluded. The competition, now in its sixth year, brought together 138 student teams from across the country, who strengthened their statistical literacy skills and competed for the top titles.

In the first stage, participants completed tests applying knowledge gained in mathematics, economics, and other subjects, searched for statistical indicators in the Database of Indicators on the Official Statistics Portal, and analyzed a Eurostat publication. The 24 best‑performing teams were invited to the second stage, where they prepared analytical presentations on selected topics. The work was submitted in video, website, and slide formats.

The national stage winners were determined by combining the results of the first and second tasks, the scores awarded by the evaluation committee, and the results of social media voting.

Winners in Category A (senior group):

  • 1st place – team “FNTT” (Klaipėda Hermann Sudermann Gymnasium)
  • 2nd place – team “KUBU” (President Valdas Adamkus Gymnasium)
  • 3rd place – team “AVG” (Šilalė Simonas Gaudėšius Gymnasium)
  • Most creative team – “VITALDATA” (Klaipėda Baltic Gymnasium)

Winners in Category B (junior group):

  • 1st place – team “LYDEKOS” (Vilnius Tuskulėnai Gymnasium)
  • 2nd place – team “TRISTAT” (Šilalė Simonas Gaudėšius Gymnasium)
  • 3rd place – team “DATA.DUO” (Šilalė Simonas Gaudėšius Gymnasium)
  • Most creative team – “PPVG” (Pasvalys Petras Vileišis Gymnasium)

These teams are eligible to represent Lithuania in the international stage of the European Statistics Competition. They will need to prepare video presentations on the topic “A Statistical Portrait: How Are the People in Your Country Like?”. From these submissions, two teams from each category will be selected to participate in the European stage. The teams will be awarded prizes established by the State Data Agency.

We thank all participants and teachers for their active involvement, creativity, and efforts to strengthen statistical literacy in Lithuania.
