The State Data Agency has been awarded for its active involvement in the project "Vilnius is a School"

On 19 January, in the Vilnius City Municipality, letters of acknowledgement were given to authorities and institutions that most actively organized lessons in the "Vilnius is a School" project last year. The State Data Agency was awarded for its involvement and consistent participation as one of the leading partners of the project.

The goal of the "Vilnius is a School" project is to transfer lessons from the school building to various spaces in the city of Vilnius, and implement a mixed education model. Within one year, half of Vilnius city schools have already started using the platform, and almost 100 partners have opened their spaces and prepared lessons. In total, more than 4.2 thousand pupils of our capital took part in the project's lessons.

During the meeting, representatives of the most active partners were greeted by Arūnas Šileris, Vilnius City Vice- Mayor, and Unė Kaunaitė, Director of "EDU Vilnius". Along with the State Data Agency, the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania, the State Labor Inspectorate, the Communications Regulatory Authority, representatives from the news portal lrytas.lt, etc. were also awarded.

The State Data Agency invites schoolchildren to visit three lessons, which contribute to a growing awareness and knowledge of statistical data, their interpretation and raising statistical questions, getting acquainted with spatial geographic data and cases of their effective use, as well as learning more about wide career opportunities in the Agency. These lessons have already been tested by 16 classes from various schools in Vilnius. Pupils from Vilnius Naujamiestis School, Baltupiai and Rytas pro-gymnasiums visited us for several times.

Organization of educational activities is an important task of the State Data Agency, to the implementation of which more and more employees from different fields contribute: statisticians, data analysts, specialists of communications, GIS, etc. The Agency annually organizes the "European Statistics Competition" for upper-secondary pupils, conducts live lessons in various Lithuanian schools, and remote seminars for teachers.
