The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) and Vilnius University Strengthen Cooperation

On 14 March, a conference titled “Prospects for Cooperation between the State Data Agency and Vilnius University” took place at Vilnius University’s Medical Science Centre. The said event focused on expanding collaboration between Vilnius University and the State Data Agency in the fields of science, education, and social partnership.

The highlight of the event was the signing of a scientific cooperation agreement between Vilnius University and the State Data Agency. This agreement represents a new stage in the integration of scientific research and data analysis, opening up opportunities for research, innovation, and more efficient data utilization.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Artūras Vasiliauskas, Vilnius University’s Pro-Rector for Partnerships, and Dr. Jūratė Petrauskienė, Director General of the State Data Agency.

During the conference, Jonas Bačelis, a representative of the State Data Agency, presented next-generation data capabilities, while Dr Arvydas Laurinavičius, Professor at Vilnius University, discussed the prospects of digital medicine.

 

An expert discussion was also held on the significance of data for scientific research and public policy-making. Participants included Gytis Bendorius, Director of the State Health Insurance Fund, Antanas Montvila, Head of the Innovation Assessment and Implementation Department at Kaunas Clinics, Justas Nugaras, Director for Academic Affairs at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros klinikos; Julius Juodakis, Head of the Health Data Team at the State Data Agency; Daniel Naumovas, Vice-Minister of Health, and Olegas Niakšu.

 

Collaboration between the academic community and data experts is crucial for advancing both scientific and practical solutions. It is expected that this partnership will open up and offer new opportunities for innovation and research development in Lithuania.
