The State Data Agency – among the most active partners of the “Vilnius is a School” project for the third year in a row
On 19 January 2026, the city lesson platform “Vilnius is a School” marked its third anniversary. On this occasion, the Vilnius City Municipality awarded the schools that use the platform most actively, as well as the project’s partner enterprises and institutions that welcomed the largest number of students over the past year.
This recognition is significant for the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) – for the third year in a row, we have been acknowledged as one of the most active project partners. We are delighted to contribute to learning that takes place not only in the classroom but also in the real city environment, encouraging students’ curiosity, practical understanding, and conscious interest in data.
During the event, Vilnius Vice Mayor Vytautas Mitalas emphasized that Vilnius is increasingly being recognized as a center of educational innovation, and the “Vilnius is a School” project helps develop more modern teaching methods by combining exploration of the city with practical experiences. Over three years, more than 5,000 Vilnius teachers and more than 140 partners have joined the project and, in 2025, over 100,000 lessons took place outside the school building.
The Agency’s contribution: lessons that strengthen data literacy
The State Data Agency aims to contribute to developing data literacy, to introduce students to the basics of statistics and data analysis, and to show how data are used for decision-making and understanding the environment. By participating in the project, we offer students practical, interactive lessons that help them understand the importance of data in daily life, in the public sector, and across various professions.
Throughout the entire project period, the State Data Agency:
- organized 255 lessons;
- created 9 unique lessons.
In 2025, we welcomed 900 students.
This result is proof of the team’s consistent work and commitment to sharing knowledge and creating meaningful learning experiences.
Thanks to the team and the project initiators
We sincerely thank the employees of the State Data Agency who contributed to the implementation of the project, as well as to the creation and delivery of lessons. We also thank the Vilnius City Municipality for this initiative, which strengthens partnership between educational institutions and organizations, promotes innovative learning methods, and helps Vilnius grow as an open learning environment.
The State Data Agency will continue to develop activities for students, create new lessons, and contribute to modern forms of education based on practical learning and data‑driven thinking.
