The eCall system dataset have been opened

The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) continues to open data of various institutions to the public.

eCall data from the information system of the Emergency Response Centre – among the recent datasets.

eCall is a system, installed in vehicles throughout the European Union, for calling help by dialing 112, and activated automatically, establishing a connection between the vehicle and the Emergency Response Centre, if the car is involved in a serious accident.

In the open data set, we can see the make, model, color of the car, the location and coordinates according to which the help was called, and other information.

According to the Emergency Response Centre (ERC), more and more eCall calls are received every year. According to him, this is determined by the increasing upgrading and development of the car fleet in Lithuania.

Faster changes are also the result of this system, which is mandatory for all new types of passenger cars sold in the European Union since spring 2018.

According to ERC, eCall calls allow emergency services to take immediate and effective actions in order to send, as quickly as possible, essential and consequent aid to vehicle drivers and passengers.

The presence of such a function is important in situations when, after a traffic accident, victims cannot call the aforementioned number themselves, and there are simply no witnesses or people nearby who could help.

The above-mentioned data has been opened by the State Data Agency while implementing the project “Integration of State Information Resources into the Data Lake”. In order to make the best possible use of the data available to the state and to continue on the path of effective data opening, we are currently closely cooperating with 372 institutions and bodies of the country. You can monitor the integration of state data into the data lake in real time on the dashboard.

The project is financed by the Economic Revitalization and Resilience Enhancement Plan “New Generation Lithuania” and the state budget of Lithuania.
