Statistical literacy was discussed at the international conference
On 2–3 May, Director General of the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė and other representatives of the Agency participated in the international conference “Towards a more statistically literate future”.
The conference, hosted by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, brought together heads of statistical offices, education experts and communication professionals from the EU countries. The main objective of the meeting was to share good practices on development of statistical literacy of young people and on cooperation between education and statistical institutions.
Representatives from the countries participated in discussions and working groups on the importance of statistical literacy, the most effective ways and channels of information dissemination, the role of statistics in identifying misinformation, and other relevant issues.
The Agency is consistently engaged in development of statistical literacy and is looking for new ways to reach out to the educational community. It organises the European Statistics Competition, seminars for teachers, lessons for students, cooperation with universities, projects and lectures for students.
