Residents are invited to provide comments regarding the next year’s official statistics production
The State Data Agency invites the public to get familiar with draft Part I of the Official Statistics Programme 2025. Official Statistics Programme refers to the annual list of the statistical surveys to be conducted by the bodies managing official statistics for public demands and for the needs of public administration and commissioned by legal acts of the European Union, laws of the Republic of Lithuania, resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
The statistical surveys provided for in the Official Statistics Programme 2025 will be carried out by the State Data Agency and 16 other institutions managing official statistics. The Programme provides for about 290 statistical surveys to be carried out, which are divided into five areas: demographic and social statistics, macroeconomic statistics, business statistics, agriculture, forestry and fishing statistics, other statistics.
In addition to the annual statistical surveys, the following statistical surveys will be carried out in 2025:
- New surveys: “Activities of galleries”, “Creative professionals”, “Equality statistics”, “Reconciliation of work and family life”, “Energy and environment”;
- Surveys carried out every few years: “Improvement of professional qualifications of persons working in enterprises”, “Use of plant protection products in agriculture”, “Use of information technologies in state and municipal institutions”, “Waste generation and management in agriculture, forestry and fisheries”, “Statistical survey on population health”.
In order to implement the recommendations of the public audit “Organisation of Official Statistics” carried out by the National Audit Office in 2021 and to ensure the production and publication of high-quality statistical information, preparations for the centralisation of the following statistical surveys will start in 2025: “Acquisition and loss of citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania”, “Third-country nationals illegally staying in the country according to the national immigration laws, and their return”, “Asylum seekers and aliens who have been granted asylum”, “Residence permits issued and the place of residence of third-country nationals”, “Third-country nationals refused entry into the territory of the country through border control posts” (in 2025, these surveys will be carried out by the Migration Department), “Waste generation and management in agriculture, forestry and fisheries" (to be carried out by the state enterprise Agricultural Data Center), “Children not attending school” (to be carried out by the National Agency for Education). The State Data Agency plans to carry out the said surveys in 2026 or 2027, depending on the entry into force of the legislation and the funding allocated.
We kindly invite you to express your opinion and provide proposals regarding the official statistics to be produced in 2025 – indicators, their dimensions, territorial level, dissemination methods, etc. We will consider the feasibility of implementing the provided proposals in the light of financial possibilities and valid legislation.
