Meeting with Science and Innovation Advisors

On 28 March 2025, a meeting was held with the Science and Innovation Advisors (SIA). During the event, Vadimas Ivanovas, a representative of the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania), presented the Agency’s activities, the data lake, and the possibilities for utilizing state data in the fields of science and innovation.

The Science and Innovation Advisors network acts as an intermediary between ministries and scientific institutions, aiming to strengthen cooperation, promote synergy, and shape strategic guidelines for the development of science and innovation.

During the meeting, the processes and achievements of opening state data were discussed:

  • According to the 2023 European Data Portal Survey, Lithuania ranked 7th among 35 European countries, improving its position in the field of open data. This achievement has demonstrated that our country is on the right path in strengthening its digital state.
  • During the state data inventory process, the State Data Agency recorded the following results: 538 institutions were contacted, 1,749 data sources were identified, and 404 of them have already been made publicly available.
  • A data analysis platform has been developed, enabling institutions to systematize and analyze their data.

Discussions with the members of the SIA network focused on how the science and innovation community can contribute to the development of data-driven solutions to enhance the use of state data for research and innovation.

We are pleased that the Research Council of Lithuania and the SIA network are contributing to strengthening the data culture in Lithuania.
