March 11th 35th Anniversary Questionnaire "Only Free We Can Grow Up"
This year, on the 11th of March, Lithuania will celebrate the 35th anniversary of re-establishment of its independence. To mark this prominent occasion, the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) has prepared a dashboard highlighting the most significant changes in our country’s economy and social life over the past decades. This initiative is part of the campaign “Only Free We Can Grow Up”, aiming to showcase how consistent growth and progress drive meaningful change.
During this period, Lithuania has implemented significant reforms and achieved distinct remarkable changes in various fields. Life expectancy is increasing, and the healthcare system is becoming more modern and accessible. The economy is steadily growing and appears more broad-based, with rising average wages, increasing investments, and higher employment levels. The transport sector has expanded significantly, with freight transportation volumes and mobility indicators growing several times over. Migration trends are also shifting: more people are returning to Lithuania, new career and business opportunities are emerging.
As the economy grows and the investment climate improves, our country is becoming increasingly attractive to investors and technological development. Vilnius is establishing itself as one of Europe’s innovation hubs, with a rapidly growing startup ecosystem that offers and provides opportunities for young entrepreneurs. Lithuania’s achievements in sports and culture are also gaining international recognition, further enhancing the country’s global reputation and carrying our good name far beyond Lithuania.
The road to this long-awaited independence and freedom was not easy, but today Lithuania is a strong, steadily growing, and continuously developing country. We invite you to explore the 35th anniversary of independence re-establishment dashboard, and discover the most significant changes and achievements.
