Main Economic and Social Indicators of 2024 were presented at the Press Conference
Today, on 30 January 2025, a press conference was held in Vilnius to discuss 2024 key economic and social indicators of our country.
During the conference, Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė, Director General of the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania), presented the most important data from the past year, including GDP growth, demographic trends, foreign trade results, and the dynamics of the industrial, service and trade sectors. Furthermore, the development of wages, situation prevailing in the labour market (employment and unemployment rates), as well as inflation trends, were analyzed.
Economist, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nerijus Mačiulis shared his insights on Lithuania’s economic growth and challenges, changes in industrial production, and the dynamics of the transport sector. Doctor of Social Sciences, Dr Daumantas Stumbrys discussed social and demographic changes, including the declining birth rate trend and migration flows.
Experts emphasized the stabilized economic growth, the lowest inflation rate in the European Union (0.9 per cent), re-emigration situation, growth of high value-added services, and the country’s recent results in the field of export and import. The balance of business start-ups and bankruptcies, along with other indicators, was also discussed.
