Lithuanian Data Portal Opened for Public Testing
The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) is launching the new Lithuanian Data Portal, a new space for discovering and using government data. This is not a “finished and perfect” product. The Agency is opening the portal to gather feedback and ensure it works in a way that meets the needs of its real users.
The new portal brings together official statistics, open data, and other government data in one place, while also introducing new technological solutions for data search and access. The entire data preparation and publication process takes place within the State Data Lake, which is standardized and automated. For the State Data Agency, this marks a major step forward from the Official Statistics Portal that has been in operation for more than 15 years, while at the same time representing only the beginning.
The First Invitees Are Not Observers but Testers
Experts familiar with the old portal and curious newcomers alike are encouraged to explore the new portal in different ways:
- searching for information they genuinely want to find,
- testing the search functionality,
- getting lost in data tables,
- clicking buttons and exploring features.
If visitors believe that something should work differently, feedback and comments are welcome by email at [email protected]. Although self-service functionality is not yet available at this stage, the portal’s features can already be evaluated through regular website browsing.
“We can test the portal under laboratory conditions, but the real test begins when people start using it. That is why we want not only to show what we have created, but also to hear what we need to improve”, says Henrikas Krukauskas, Project Manager of the Lithuanian Data Portal and leader of the development team.
“Your” Lithuanian Data Portal
Valuable observations, challenging questions, and constructive criticism are not shortcomings at this stage, but an essential part of creating a high-quality product. The Lithuanian Data Portal is not intended for its developers, but for everyone.
The State Data Agency notes that some information on the portal may not yet be fully updated, and data updates may occur somewhat later than 9:00 a.m. Self-service functionality is not yet enabled at this stage.
You can explore the Lithuanian Data Portal here.
The old Official Statistics Portal will remain available here for some time.
Comments and suggestions are welcome by email at [email protected].
