DataLab trainings: strengthening data competencies in municipalities

On 15 April, DataLab trainings will take place in Vilnius, bringing together municipal specialists who aim to deepen their practical data-related skills. These trainings are an important part of a broader initiative focused on promoting data-driven decision-making in the public sector and increasing the value of data use in the everyday activities of institutions.
Trainings are part of the project “Integration of State Information Resources into a Data Lake”. The goal of the project is to create a unified, efficient, and advanced data management ecosystem in Lithuania.
Practical focus on real solutions
DataLab training sessions are focused on hands-on work with data. Participants will not only become acquainted with the capabilities of the State Data Lake, but will also complete practical tasks that help them better understand data integration, analysis, and application processes.
Considerable attention is given to the practical use of data in addressing concrete municipal challenges – from service planning to more efficient resource management. During the training, real-life data use scenarios will be presented, enabling participants to immediately see the practical value of data.
Strengthening competencies – a long-term investment
One of the main goals of these trainings is to strengthen data analytics competencies of municipal employees. As the volume of data and its importance continue to grow, the ability to properly interpret and use data becomes a key factor in developing advanced, efficient, and resident-centered public policy.
These trainings help build a shared understanding of the importance of data, encourage inter-institutional cooperation, and contribute to strengthening data culture across the entire public sector.
Training and conference – a seamless experience
The DataLab trainings are closely linked to the data conference “Houston, We Have a Problem Data”, which will take place on 16 April. The two-day program will provide participants with the opportunity not only to gain practical skills, but also to hear strategic insights, become familiar with the latest trends, and learn about best practices.
During the conference, topics such as the maturity of state data, data openness, the application of artificial intelligence, and the development of digital services will be discussed, while institutions will present concrete examples of data utilization in practice.
Data-driven decisions for the state – a shared goal
The State Data Agency is purposefully working to ensure that data becomes a strategic resource for the state, supporting evidence-based decision-making and creating greater value for society. The DataLab trainings are one of the important steps toward achieving this goal.
By strengthening specialists’ capabilities and encouraging cooperation between institutions, we are laying the foundation for a more advanced, open, and efficient state, where data becomes not only a source of information but also a driver of real change.
