Report on data management in the public sector

The presentation will examine the data governance process in the public sector, with a particular focus on the public data management information system, data “lakes” and data “sandboxes”.

Jana Vanagė, Adviser to the State Data Agency's State Data Governance Group, will introduce the concept of a data lake, explain how it is “stocked” with data, share examples of its practical application, and look at the opportunities for more effective use of data in the public sector.

Ugnė Užgalė, Head of the Strategic Solutions Support Group at the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, will explain how these technologies help to manage and analyse data more efficiently, addressing both everyday administrative and complex social challenges. She will also present how the Ministry of Social Security and Labour has managed to achieve a breakthrough in data analytics, while revealing the practical challenges faced in day-to-day operations.
