Online Seminar for Teachers “How to Inspire Students to Explore Data?”
On 17 October 2025, from 14:00 to 15:00, the Statistics Lithuania (State Data Agency) will host an online seminar for teachers titled “How to Inspire Students to Explore Data?”
The event is intended for teachers of all subjects who wish to discover how data and statistics can become an engaging, creative, and curiosity-driven theme in the classroom.
The seminar will include:
Presentation of the European Statistics Competition 2026. Participants will learn about the competition’s structure, tasks, and opportunities, as well as the success story of the Lithuanian student team that won the European final in 2025.
Experience sharing. A teacher who mentored the winning team will share first-hand insights about the preparation process, challenges, and achievements.
Introduction to practical tools. The event will present the Official Statistics Portal, the Indicators Database, and various data visualisation tools such as the Geographic Information System (GIS). These tools are useful both for competition preparation and for daily teaching practice.
Exchange of ideas. Practical examples will be shared on how data can be used to foster students’ critical thinking, creativity, and understanding of the world around them.
All registered participants will receive a certificate of attendance after the seminar.
