Representatives from Lithuania Participate in the International Seminar in Riga

On 3 April 2025, an international seminar “National Accounts Up Close: Collaboration in Addressing Challenges” took place in Riga. The event was initiated by the official statistical authorities of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The seminar aimed to bring together experts from ministries, central banks, statistical institutions, and other relevant organizations to discuss the most pressing issues in national accounts compilation and opportunities in the Baltic region.

Lithuania was represented at the aforementioned seminar by Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė, Director General of the State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania), Daiva Jurelevičienė, First Deputy Director General, Darius Astrauskas, Head of the National Accounts Division, Edvinas Raguotis, Advisor at the Methodology and Data Science Group, as well as Eglė Bagdonė and Jolita Reidman, Senior Specialists of the National Accounts Division.

The event began with welcome speeches by Dr Jūratė Petrauskienė, Raimonds Lapiņš, Director General of the Central Statistical Bureau of the Republic of Latvia, and Urmet Lee, Director General of Statistics Estonia.

The seminar covered topics related to the application of deflators in national accounts statistics, challenges in data revision practices, and the links between gross domestic product and economic decision-making.

Darius Astrauskas delivered a presentation titled “Revision Issues and Challenges”, discussing key motivations for data updates and the importance of effective communication with users. He also participated in public discussions together with Daiva Jurelevičienė and Edvinas Raguotis.

This international event contributes to strengthening institutional cooperation and the development of harmonized, methodologically sound statistical information across the Baltic region.
